Inspired Post #5

Well, I haven't been posting any blogs for the past week. With finals, and the holiday season rapidly approaching, it was hard to find any time to sit and write. I loosely continued working out, but working out was not first priority. Unfortunately, I have given in to some of the pressures of college, smoking quite frequently with some people on the floor. Although, I believe that my depression and anxiety has been on a downfall since starting this lifestyle back up again. Well, I am heading out, back to the Valley. I will continue my blog later!

Inspired Post #4

Didn't get to the gym tonight. Finals are really starting to take over my schedule! I will be going to the gym tomorrow though, So we will continue then.

Inspired Post #3

Well, tonight was a great work out. I continue to move up on my benching, completing 3 sets of 12 at 160 lbs. I will move up again by Friday. I finished my routine with some ball workout abs. I could not run today due to my knee injury. After the workout, we headed straight to dinner where I had some teriyaki chicken with rice and vegetables, a spinach salad, a bowl of cottage cheese, with milk, celery and peanut butter on the side. Overall, a great meal after a great workout. I feel great, healthy.

Inspired Post #2

Well, I was unable to post yesterday, and I did not get to the gym. However, I did go snowboarding. My first chance to break the rules already, I was faced with the decision of whether or not to smoke before hittin' the hill. I respectfully declined and had a fun night anyway! However, I did hurt my knee while boarding, which will be an issue for running and lower body workouts, but I will continue my upper body workout plan tomorrow.

Inspired Post #1

I decided not to wait until New Year's Eve to create a New Year's Resolution for myself. So, today I started the journey to the best shape of my life. Today, I worked out at 4:30 until about 6:30 p.m. I did an upper body workout and finished with some abs. My bench has moved up in the last week, doing 3 sets of 12 at 155 lbs. This, and the overhead military press are my main goals of improvement at the moment. I finished my workout with a quick 3 sets of abs before dinner. From the gym I went straight to the Dining Center. For dinner, I had meatballs and mashed potatoes, a bowl of cottage cheese, and a plate of salad with blue Powerade on the side. For "dessert," I had an apple, bringing 3 back to my room for snacks during the day. After day 1 of working out, I weighed 168.4 lbs. My goal is to gain muscle and weight. This day felt really good. I feel good.

I am a college student at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. I am an average college student, average GPA, and I do not play any major sports. I go out on the weekend and party with my friends. But, just last night I pushed my comfort zone while eating a pot brownie. Now, for some, this may seem like a bit of an over exaggeration, but my body has become less accustomed to any type of drug since being diagnosed with depression. The result of this happening was me taking a step back and analyzing if I was truly happy with the way my life was going. The answer to this was no. So, with this new and INSPIRED mindset, I decided that I wanted to change my life for the better. My goal is to: Not drink. Not smoke weed. Not smoke or chew tobacco. Having a list of "don'ts," I also made a list of "do's." I would like to work out at least every other day, eat healthier, and get more sleep. My goal is to get in the best shape of my life, and I believe by extracting all of these bad things from my life and replacing them with good, I can accomplish this goal. For the next month, I am going to be writing a blog entry every night, documenting my progress at the gym, as well as how I am feeling overall.

Well, my first post.

Hey my name is Chris. I am a senior at Apple Valley and I am looking forward to going to UMD to study Mass Communications at the College of Liberal Arts next year. I guess one of the main reasons I chose to start this blog is to just get a feel for what it may be like pursuing a career in the path that I have chosen. Now something that you should know about me is that I am a HUGE sports fan. I follow basically any sport, any team (mainly MN whoop whoop!). In 5 years I see myself hopefully working with some relation to sports in the field of Mass Media/Communications. Now this blog will help me share step by step my process to and through college. With everything that I am going through now, this may be an interesting journey.
